Antenatal

Patients are seen by the midwife at the clinics by appointment on Wednesday afternoons and also by the doctors during surgery hours.

Baby Clinics

Unfortunately we no longer have a Health Visitor at the surgery on a Wednesday afternoon.

Child Development

Child development examinations are carried out on Wednesday afternoons with the doctor by appointment.

Baby Immunisation

Held on Wednesday afternoon with the practice sister by appointment.

Asthma Clinic

his is run by the practice sister in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment.

Diabetic Clinic

This is run by both the doctor and practice sister by appointment.

Well Person

All registered patients over the age of 16 years are entitled to a three-yearly health check, which can be carried out by appointment with the practice sister or healthcare assistant. Care For the Elderly Patients over the age of 75 years are entitled to an annual check-up either at the surgery or at their home if they are unable to travel. This can be carried out by appointment with the practice sister or healthcare assistant.

Minor Surgery

 Minor surgical procedures are carried out by the doctor by appointment only.

Hypertension

Opportunistic screening by doctor, practice sister and healthcare assistant.

Heart Disease Prevention

Patients can be seen by either the doctor or practice sister by appointment.

Family Planning Services/Cervical Cytology And HRT Checks

These services are all available by appointment with the practice sister.

Influenza Vaccination

In accordance with Department of Health guidelines, we recommend an influenza vaccination to patients over the age of 65 years or those living in a nursing or residential home and to those with chronic heart disease, kidney or lung disease (including asthma), diabetes or poor resistance to infection. Appointments for flu vaccinations are made between September to January each year.

Specialist Drug Monitoring

Patients on specialist prescribed medication, eg Warfarin, Methotrexate etc, and who require regular monitoring will be seen by appointment for review by the doctor.

Travel Vaccinations

The practice sisters provide advice and vaccination for all foreign travel. Please complete a holiday questionnaire – available at reception or by following the link at the bottom of this page and return it to the surgery at least eight weeks before you intend to travel. The sister will then check if you require any vaccinations and any necessary appointments can be made. Some vaccinations may incur a charge.

It is important to make the initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travelto allow the vaccines to work.

Sickness Certificates

You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting six days or less. Your employer may, however, require you to complete a self-certification form SC1 which is available from your employer.

For any illness lasting longer than six days you will need to see the doctor for him/her to issue a fitness for work statement and for any subsequent renewal of the certificate.
